OESI Forum: Focusing on Alarm Management for Safer Offshore Operations

The intent of this Forum is to stimulate dialogue among the ocean energy stakeholders. Attendees will share and discuss Best Practices in the management of alarms for safer offshore operations (i.e. prioritization of alarms, alarm flooding, alarm rationalization, etc.). The Forum will also include discussion of best practices of other industries that dealing with alarm management issues and ongoing research on how alarming can increase situational awareness and proper decision-making offshore.
Small group sessions will be held to generate ideas that could be included in a future development of a specification for the 'Management of Alarms in the Ocean Energy Industry'. The product of this Forum will be proceedings that will include presentations, discussions, best practices, a list of ideas and tasks to help continuously improve safer management of safety barriers, and a framework of ideas to help develop an Alarm Management specification.
