On May 22, 2012, the BSEE will host a Technical Forum on Next-Generation Blowout Preventer (BOP) and Control Systems Technology, Management and Regulations. The goals are to identify:
- BOP technology needs identified from the Deepwater Horizon incident;
- Real time technologies available to aid in kick detection;
- Design requirements needed to provide assurance that BOPs will cut and seal effectively;
- Manufacturing, testing, maintenance and certification requirements needed to ensure operability and reliability of BOP equipment; and
- Training and certification needs.
Several panels will discuss these important issues in the South Interior Building Auditorium beginning at 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.
There is no charge for attendance, but seating is limited.
