The BSEE GOM Oil Spill Preparedness Division (OSPD) will conduct a workshop to present the new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) that OSPD follows in applying its regulatory authority; as well as answer questions from industry and the regulated community attendees.
These SOPs have been developed to ensure that BSEE activities related to oil spill preparedness are conducted in a uniform manner and are fully consistent with the regulatory authorities described in 30 CFR 254.
Activities that will be covered by these SOPs include:
- Receiving and reviewing Oil Spill Response Plans (OSRPs)
- Training and Exercise Compliance
- Verifying response equipment
- National Response System Coordination
- Incident response and notification procedures
- Enforcement
The intended audience for the workshop includes: owners or operators of facilities located seaward of the coastline that produce, store, handle or transport oil (including pipeline); contractors who provide equipment, personnel or services listed in OSRPs; contractors who prepare OSRPs; and other Federal or State agency personnel involved in oil spill preparedness.
