OESI Forum: Keeping a Focus on Barriers for Safer Offshore Operations

The intent of this Ocean Energy Safety Institute (OESI) Forum is to stimulate dialogue among the ocean energy stakeholders. Forum participants will share and discuss Best Practices in the management of barriers for safe offshore operations.

Forum Discussion Questions:
  • How does leadership engage in the risk-based prioritization of barrier management, especially in this period of consolidations and workforce reductions?

  • What process is utilized in the identification of the hazards for which barriers should be set against?

  • What is the latest Academic research on Barrier Management?

  • Where does BSEE's ‘Risk-Based Inspection Program' fit into Barrier Management?


Breakout Groups will address areas of common interest from morning discussions.

The product of this Forum will be proceedings that will include presentations, discussions, and most importantly a list of ideas and tasks to improve safer management of safety barriers generated by focused breakout sessions.
