The Sea Grant Oil Spill Science Outreach Team is offering a series of webinars on oil spill impacts. The first deals with Detecting the true, potential, and perceived impacts to human health following an oil spill and includes presentations by BSEE and EPA research personnel on in situ burning. Future webinars in this three-part series will discuss impacts to water quality and from dispersants. These are yet to be scheduled.

  • Kaitlyn Gam Lawrence, MSPH, PhD, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences: Research on impacts to the lung capacity of oil spill responders after Deepwater Horizon.
  • Brian K. Gullett, Ph.D., U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): EPA's work on in situ burning, including the monitoring of potentially harmful airborne chemicals.
  • Karen N. Stone, BSEE: How BSEE uses data from in situ burning tests to inform future research and response.
